Avertissement concernant montées de montagne en Papua
Réglementation très stricte adoptée par les autorités indonésiennes concernant les ascensions en Papua.
PT Freeport Indonesia (PT-FI), a contractor to the government of Indonesia working under a mining Contract of Work, is not allowed to grant visitors access through its project area to the Carstenz/Meren glaciers or the Puncak Jaya Peak (Mt. Carstensz), which is part of the Lorentz National Park. The project area is a robust working environment with transport of heavy equipment and mining activities occurring on a 24/7 basis, which makes it unsuitable for traversing by any third parties, including climbers. The Indonesian government regulates and approves permits to the glaciers and Puncak Jaya/Carstensz via a hiking trail from Illaga. Several travel outfitters in Indonesia offer guided trips and assistance with the permitting process. PT-FI is in no way affiliated with these organizations and cannot, due to legal and safety reasons, offer logistical assistance or access to any organization to the Lorentz National Park through its project area. If you are considering an expediction to the Carstensz area, you should be aware that certain travel clubs or organizations may make claims that are not consistent with our policy. Please take notice that we do not have any agreements with these organizations, we will enforce this policy and will not permit climbers to traverse our project area.
