Elections

Belgians who are registered at the embassy are voters in certain elections in Belgium.

Belgians residing abroad are obliged to vote in federal legislative elections (Chamber of Representatives) and in elections of the European Parliament.

When you register in the consular population registers, you choose how you wish to participate in the elections (personally, by power of attorney or by correspondence).

Belgians abroad cannot participate in the regional elections (of the federated states), nor in the elections for the municipal and provincial councils.
